Real Sociedad B endured a tough 3-1 defeat away to AD Ceuta FC in LaLiga HyperMotion, a result marred by two red cards that left Imanol Alguacil's side with nine men at the Alfonso Murube stadium. Kazunari Kita had given the visitors an early lead with a goal in the 12th minute, but dismissals for Mariezkurrena and Kita himself completely unravelled their performance.
Mariezkurrena was sent off with a straight red card in the 27th minute, forcing the team to play with ten men for a long period. The situation deteriorated after the break when Kita, who scored the opener, received a second yellow for a dangerous challenge in the 65th minute and had to leave the pitch. "I was sent off in the first half with a straight red," Mariezkurrena said after the match.
Down to nine players, the reserve team's resistance cracked. Carlos Hernández turned the game around with two headers from Kialy Abdoul Koné crosses in the 71st and 78th minutes. In added time, Abraham Bueno won the ball from a throw-in and assisted Jordi Escobar to seal the 3-1 scoreline. "I won the ball from a throw-in and assisted Jordi Escobar for the 3-1," Bueno said of the decisive goal.
The loss is a setback for the B team's campaign, which now extends their winless run in the league to four matches, while the Real Sociedad first team currently sits eighth in La Liga with 10 points. The senior side's next fixture is a key home match against seventh-placed Deportivo La Coruna on October 11th.
