Real Sociedad B threw away a two-goal halftime lead to lose 3-2 to Granada in the eighth matchday of LaLiga HyperMotion. The Basque reserve team collapsed in the second half after dominating the opening 45 minutes.

Gorka Gorosabel and Gorka Carrera scored within a minute of each other to put Pacheta's side in command. The Granada manager, however, "introduced a quadruple substitution at halftime looking for a reaction". The tactic worked perfectly. Jorge Pascual scored twice in six minutes to level the match and José Arnáiz, from the penalty spot, completed the comeback. The winning goal arrived in the 93rd minute after a Rubén Alcaraz header hit the post, with Pascual pouncing on the rebound.

Granada fightback

The game turned completely after the break. The injection of fresh legs for Granada changed the tempo. The first yellow card went to Real Sociedad B's Alex Lebarbier, followed by others for Jon Balda and Jon Garro. For the visitors, Benedikt Gimber and Diego Hormigo were also booked. VAR reviewed a potential red card for Balda but took no action. A clear penalty committed by Iker Ropero on Manu Lama allowed Arnáiz to make it 2-2 from eleven yards.

The San Sebastián side, fighting to establish themselves in the second tier, adds another defeat in a challenging season. This setback contrasts with the good form of the first team, who sit eighth in La Liga with 10 points from seven games. Their next fixture is a direct clash against seventh-placed Deportivo La Coruna on October 11th at the Reale Arena.

The match, played at the Estadio Izan, was marked by intensity and tactical shifts. Pacheta went all-in at the start of the second half and his gamble paid off. For the txuri-urdin reserves, names like Lander Astiazarán, Unax Agote and Joan Oleaga tried unsuccessfully to contain the visitors' momentum. Granada, for their part, showed great resilience away from home.

The result leaves Real Sociedad B with a lesson learned about managing leads. The first-team squad, coming off a 3-2 win over Valencia with goals from Luka Sučić, Carlos Soler and Ander Barrenetxea, now turns its focus to Deportivo's visit. The lineup and squad status are available in our squad section. The match will be played on Sunday, October 11th.
